Update on New Strata Laws
Last month the New South Wales government announced more than 90 proposed changes to strata laws affecting residents in regards to a range of ways including pets, parking and renovations.
There is a new proposal in place to change the standard and potentially create a default where reasonable pet ownership is allowed.
Parking might be tightened with a proposal to allow council parking inspectors to patrol strata carparks and issue fines.
A possible three-tier system that allows some small renovations to not need permission, for significant work requiring a majority vote and large projects should refer to bylaws.
