There are some true architectural wonders within the contenders. Here are our three favourite houses:

Title: Premaydena House

Lead Architect Company Name: Misho + Associates

City: Hobart

This unique box house is built to withstand the cold, salty winds and other external elements with the orange metal panels matched to the lichen found at the local beach.

Title: Pound Ridge House

Lead Architect Company Name: Kieran Timberlake

City: Pound Ridge, New York

Designed in order to feel the presence of the forest indoors, this home facilitates a organic feeling of coexistence with the surrounding woods.

Title: The Flint House

Lead Architect Company Name: Skene Catling de la Peña

City: Waddesdon

Emerging from the ground, this house was inspired by the materials found naturally in the landscape with flint and chalk incorporated into concrete, metal and glass to create the house.
